Churches

...and upon this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

We believe the church is the hub of life and that God will use it to extend the Gospel to other nations, that many might be saved, that we might facilitate the making of disciples in many nations. We need your prayers! Selebi-Phikwe is an area known to be surrounded by witchcraft and the spiritual battle is very real.

Under the Covid 19 protocols here we are only allowed to have a small percentage of the church in attendance at one time. Also, we are not allowed to have children come to church in the villages.

Selebi-Phikwe

Our churches in Selebi-Phikwe has gone through many changes over the years, and in 2014 the two congregations were melded into one. Fifteen members of this congregation have graduated our Bible Training Program and are more active in building God’s kingdom. Some, becoming quite active in teaching and preaching both inside and outside the church. Three started congregations of their own. Unfortunately, in 2016 the church was affected by the closure of the BCL mine located in our town. This was the largest employer in the nation and has led to a massive exodus of the adult population and no current economic turnaround in our area seems imminent. Due to hardship, gospel preaching churches in our town have experienced shrinkage and decline, as many of those exiting left with giftings, graces and their entire families.

With new lockdown requirements we are now allowed to resume services (twice weekly) with a maximum of 100 people only, and we cannot conduct children’s ministry. We look forward to when these restrictions will be eased, and are thankful for God's protection.

We ask for your prayer that this congregation can begin to regain its influence and reach many who are being led astray by false prophets and ancestral worship doctrines which are the majority of churches in this town.

Damochujenaa

In 2017 Church of the Harvest was started in this village located 40 kilometers (24 miles from our first branch). The village has approximately 1,300 people residing there with a Primary School, but children grade 8-12 must leave the village for boarding schools. It took nearly 18 months to begin to see real conversions in the adult population. So early on the church was frequented by children ages 2-15, and these children continue to pursue the Lord.

The church continues to gain momentum, and the members of Damochujenaa have a heart to spread the gospel to their neighbors. Several have themselves led friends to Christ or seen the Lord perform healings as they were zealous and encouraged to spread the gospel.

PRAISE REPORT: In December of 2020 the church secured a plot of land, and will soon begin fencing it!

Other churches in this village are led by traditional doctors, traditional religion, and ancestors still have a stronghold in the area. There is still much work that needs to be done. We are thankful for the dedicated believers there, and the young people being raised up to serve and follow Christ.

Please pray for the believers in this village, due to its location poverty is very real, and the amount of alcoholism in the village is also very concerning, especially among the men. Despite these and other challenges the village is proud that modern construction of houses is seen throughout the village, as only a small percentage of the population still resides in mud structures. This village is expected to continue to grow as many plots are being allocated for new residents.

Dimajwe

The church in Dimajwe was established in 2019. The first service was attended by close to 50 adults and more than 100 children. The people in Dimajwe love the Lord and have shown a hunger to know and grow in their knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Before the corona virus lockdown the church was meeting three times per week, for Bible studies, prayer and the Sunday service. Currently the church has been given a place to meet without having to pay rent, this has been a huge blessing.

UPDATE: The new believers here continue to experience spiritual growth and renewal. One of the latest achievements in this congregation was the graduation of 65 children from the Operation Christmas Child Discipleship Program ( 12 week course ). In this program the children are taught to evangelize and share their faith. This resulted in several parents/ guardians being saved, as well as other children, and many are now faithfully attending the church.

Dimajwe is a remote village in the central district of Botswana. Consisting of the Basarwa people, they speak Sesarwa. Most people in the village are not working, they survive through seasonal ploughing and government help due to climate and rainfall limitations. The challenges in the village include alcohol and drug abuse, gender abuse and a high incidence rate of rape and defilement cases.

Sefophe

In 2019 a church was started in the village of Sefophe. The congregation is led by a former Bible training graduate and the caretaker at our Orphan Center. Meetings are now held outside under some shade cloth as due to Covid-19 restrictions churches can no longer gather at someone's residence.

UPDATE: Pray with us that the title deed process for a plot that has been donated to this village church can be processed quickly.

Sefophe is the village where Children of Promise Orphan Center is being developed and will soon open.

Tobane

Though this village congregation has not been able to meet formally for sometime now due to not having a meeting place, we are happy to announce we have found a plot for the church!
